Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! The countdown to opening night finally has hit 2 which means that the longest summer without hockey is coming to a close, the question is will the Chicago Blackhawks be as ready as the fans are for the season to start.
The Chicago Blackhawks season starts Wednesday night as you know against the St. Louis Blues at the United Center. As I write this post this morning, we still don’t know who made the final roster cut and who will be starting the season in Rockford.
The one thing we do seem to know is that Joel Quenneville is going to mess around with line combinations to start the season while knowing he has magic in his “back pocket’ and can always put together Artemi Panarin, Artem Anisimov and Patrick Kane again when the Hawks scoring goes dormant.
Even the preseason shows that we could be in for a roller coaster ride of goal scoring with the amount of youth that will be in the lineup starting opening night. The first 150 minutes of the preseason was a scoreless bore while in their last real tune up for the regular season the Chicago Blackhawks poured in 6 goals against the Detroit Red Wings.
The Chicago Blackhawks season is still predicted by many to be a playoff kind of season which everyone expects with Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane on the roster, but how far they go in the playoffs depends on how far the youth of the team progresses. I’m not a fan of one and done in the playoffs so the youth better develop quickly on the NHL stage.
