No. 20: Florida Panthers

Previous: 12th

Season record: 11-10-2 (24 points)

Citing philosophical differences, the Florida Panthers dismissed head coach Gerard Gallant late Sunday, and named general manager Tom Rowe as interim coach. One game over .500 and sitting one point out of a wild-card slot, the Panthers lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

The Panthers are fighting through huge turnover on the blue line and early-season injuries to Nick Bjugstad, Jonathan Huberdeau and Jussi Jokinen.
