TEAM USA ROSTER

Earlier this week Team USA announced their preliminary roster for the 2017 World Junior Championship. The Team USA announced that Alex DeBrincat and Chad Krys would be members of the preliminary Roster for Team USA. Debrincat was the Blackhawks 39th pick in the 2016 NHL entry level draft. Debrincat had played the last three seasons with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League

Debrincat impressed the Blackhawks so much this year that he had already been inked to his entry level contract. He will make $925,000 dollar per year during his three year entry level deal. Debrincat will be joined by fellow Blackhawks draft pick Chad Krys. Krys was the 45th pick of 2016 NHL draft. He currently plays his college hockey at Boston University and has not signed his entry level contract.

Sweden Roster

Debrincat and Krys are not the only Blackhawks prospects playing in the World Junior Championship this year.  Lucas Carlsson and John Dahlström were both officially named to team Sweden. While both Carlsson and Dahlstrom are not uncontract, the Blackhawks still own their rights.  Carlsson was the 110th pick of the 2016 NHL draft. He  has played with Brynas IF in the SHL last year.

Dahlström was the 211th of the 2015 NHL draft. He is currently playing in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Debrincat, Krys, Carlsson, and Dahlstrom continue the tradition of Blackhawks or representing their countries and the Blackhawks at the World Junior Championship. Current Blackhawks Vinnie Hinostroza and current Rockford IceHog Nick Schmaltz were the most recent members of Team USA to play on the Blackhawks. Gustav Forsling is the most recent member of Team Sweden to play on the Blackhawks.
