June 30th, 2016: Chicago Blackhawks signed Brandon Mashinter and Michal Rozsival to one-year deals.

Initial Reaction: WHY ROZSVIAL?! Mashinter is a depth signing. He played OK last year.

Current Assessment: Rozsival plays every once and a while. Mashinter is down at Rockford.

Grade: C

July 1st, 2016: Chicago Blackhawks sign Brian Campbell to a one-year deal.

Initial Reaction: SOUPY is back! The Blackhawks defense has gotten better in one move.

Current Assessment: Campbell has been a healthy scratch as of late. His Corsi-for numbers have dropped from last season. While he has been an upgrade, he might not be playing as well as last season.

Grade: B+

July 1st, 2016: Chicago Blackhawks sign Sam Carrick, Spencer Abbott and Pierre-Cedric Abbott to a one-year contracts.

Initial Reaction: Wow, three guys for the AHL.

Current Assessment: All three guys are in the AHL and will not play in the NHL.

Grade: N/A

July 6th, 2016: Chicago Blackhawks sign Jordin Tootoo to a one-year deal

Initial Reaction: Why did the Blackhawks sign Tootoo?  Tootoo is more of a fighter than anything else. He is one of those physical forwards Q loves.

Current Assessment: Tootoo was a bad signing and he should be waived. He has 0 points in 29 games and averages 6:37 minutes of ice time per game.

Grade: F

July 15th, 2016: Chicago Blackhawks sign Mark McNeill to a one-year deal.

Initial Reaction: The Blackhawks are still trying to trade McNeill and not let him go for nothing.

Current Assessment: Bowman has not found the right deal for McNeill yet, that is why he is still in Rockford.

Grade: C
