Chicago Blackhawks On Trade Deadline: Experts Weigh In

Scott King
For once, Stan Bowman may actually do nothing. The ’Hawks’ latest road trip seems to have filled most of, if not all of, the team’s holes this season.
Jonathan Toews is staying hot and finding chemistry with his latest line combination with Nick Schmaltz and Richard Panik, their defense has found confidence and the team is beginning to roll four lines. Unless someone makes Mr. Bowman an offer he can’t refuse, expect the team to stay put.

The only kind of trade I’d expect the Blackhawks to make before the deadline would be a relatively small one. Think adding the Stars’ Patrick Eaves or shipping out Mark McNeill in a change-of-scenery move, rather than going for a big fish like Matt Duchene. There are too many hurdles to making a major move like that work.
