Colorado Avalanche: D

Trades made: Traded F Cody McLeod to Nashville for F Felix Girard | Traded F Jarome Iginla to Los Angeles for 2018 conditional fourth-round draft pick | Acquired F Sven Andrighetto from Montreal for F Andreas Martinsen

Explaining the grade: Not really sure what GM Joe Sakic was doing here. He had easily saleable pieces in Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog and decided to do nothing with them. Was he getting terrible offers?

The McLeod move happened back in January, and while he was a heart and soul guy in Colorado, those are a dime a dozen. Girard has 13 points in 18 AHL games since the deal, while McLeod has 30 penalty minutes in 13 games with the Predators.

It doesn’t feel like the Avs got much for Iginla, though he’s certainly on the backside of his career. He wound up being their big-name move, and it didn’t net them much in return. Rough deadline for Sakic and Co.
