Last but not least

John Hayden.  What’s not to be excited about here?  This kid came straight from Yale and started playing on the first line with Toews!  And he did well!  He scored a goal in his second-ever NHL game, and added three assists in a total of 12 games.  He’s a big guy with a lot of skill, and he showed he can play at this level.  Now give this kid a helmet that fits and let him show his stuff!

Vinnie Hinostroza.  This kid has so much speed, and we’ve seen that he has skill and playmaking abilities.  Now he needs to learn how to adjust these skills so they will fit into a more talented NHL league, versus the minor leagues.  You know how he can do this?  By playing in said league and gaining experience.

All in all, I’m pretty excited about the Chicago Blackhawks’ forwards corps for the upcoming season.  They have a good combination of core players and second- and third-year players who are finding their way, and rookies with potential.  And this post doesn’t even take into account some of the exciting prospects that are in the pipeline.

What do you think, Blackhawks fans?  What is your gut reaction?  Be sure to check back in to Blackhawk Up for my player reactions on defense, coming soon.
