Our Take:

I wasn’t going to include Robert Thomas in this draft preview because I didn’t think he fit the Hawks system, but something about his numbers struck me.  First of all, he’s playing for Patrick Kane’s former amateur club the London Knights of the OHL which many top prospects chose to play for.  Second of all, he’s only 17 and has decent size.  Lastly, his stats from last year are almost like a defenseman’s stats.  This guy screams playmaker.  He wants to get the puck in the hands of his wingers and unselfishly facilitates a fluid offense, much like Jonathan Toews.  Only he may be a better passer.  Think Joe Thornton.

In the video, Thomas finds his team mates in the right spots and puts the puck right on their stick.  You also notice that like Toews, Thomas is tough to pin on the boards.  He’s able to wiggle out of a dead play and create a scoring opportunity.  On the 3rd play, his body protection of the puck is well beyond his years.  To finish off the video, Thomas channels his inner Ovechkin and goes in-between his legs to beat his man and then scores.
