Ryan Poehling

Age:  18

Position:  C

Height / Weight:  6’3″, 185 lbs.

Hometown: Lakeville, MN

Current Team:  St. Cloud State University

Recent Stats:  35GP, 7G, 6A, -8

Our Take:

Don’t let the numbers from his past season fool you.  First of all, college hockey team play far less games than amateur canadian leagues like the WHL or OHL.  Also, he was on an absolutely horrendous St. Cloud State team.  Coming from a very successful high school career in Lakeville Minnesota, Poehling has the potential to be a winner at the pro level.

Projected to go around the middle of the 1st round, Poehling is college hockey’s lone representative projected to be drafted on day one.  His face off ability, size, and grittiness have GMs salivating over his potential longevity in the NHL.

See the video above and notice how Poehling has similar positioning and deflection skills to Sidney Crosby.
