Central Division standings

Maybe not so surprising after our predicted point totals, only one of our writers, Randy, has the Blackhawks winning the Central Division. Even with the additions of Brandon Saad and Patrick Sharp, it seems not many of us are ready to believe the ‘Hawks are poised to repeat as division champions.

Chicago Blackhawks

Colin, Keith and Steve all believe the Predators are set to bring home the division after their long playoff run a season ago. Meanwhile, Aaron, Sean and Tim believe the regular-season coaching of Bruce Boudreau and balanced roster of the Minnesota Wild will put it ahead of the rest. Finally, Kirk believes Ken Hitchcock is ready to turn the Stars back into a contender and win the division this year.

The Central Division is packed full with talent. Other than the Avalanche, who look like they will swim with the bottom-feeders of the NHL all year, the division has six teams that all look poised to compete this year.

Some may argue that Winnipeg is still a little ways away from contending, but Steve Yatsushiro believes they will be the “surprise team this year” and finish third in the division.

Only Colin, Randy and Aaron predict the ‘Hawks will finish above third in the division this year, but all of our writers have the team in position to make the postseason for the 10th consecutive year.
