Chicago Blackhawks: What’s On Tap This Week Visiting St. Louis

The Chicago Blackhawks have a few days off before a 3 games in 4 night stretch to end the week.  The Hawks are off to a 4-1-1 start and will be looking to improve that record as they play 3 Western Conference foes this week. 

If you watch hockey at all on NBCSN, you know that Wednesday night is billed as rivalry night, and this week it’s the Chicago Blackhawks traveling to St. Louis to faceoff against the Blues.

Both the Blackhawks and Blues have played 6 games so far with the Blackhawks having one Overtime loss point better than the Blues so far.  Not much was expected from the Blues to start the season as they are banged up, but they roared out to a 4-0 record before losing their last two decisions including a 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.

You never know what to expect from these two teams when they meet up, but I would expect them not to be able to cover Vladimir Tarasenko, and John Hayden will fight someone on the Blues roster.

The very next night in Chicago, the trendy pick to reach the Stanley Cup Final, the Edmonton Oilers visit the United Center.  The Connor McDavid show was in full force on opening night, with him picking up a hat trick, but McDavid hasn’t scored since then while Leon Draisaitl after signing a big extension is off to a very slow start through 4 games.  The Oilers are only 1-3 so far, and it would be nice to keep their offense quiet for at least one more night.

After a day off, the Chicago Blackhawks will make their first desert road trip of the season as they head to Arizona before traveling to Las Vegas.  The Hawks will play against the winless Coyotes on Saturday night, and this will be the first meeting between the two teams since the Blackhawks sent Niklas Hjalmarsson to Arizona for Connor Murphy and salary cap space.

I would expect to see a lot of red sweaters in the building on Saturday night cheering on the Blackhawks, and hopefully a lot of Blackhawks goals too.

The good news as we look ahead to this week is the fact that Joel Quenneville said Nick Schmaltz will be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Blues.
