Goaltending from Antti Niemi, who was placed on waivers yesterday, has led to the shaky start of the season for Pittsburgh, giving it a poor goal differential at minus-9. But his waiving Monday morning will help the goalie situation. There’s no doubt this team is feeling the effects of two straight championship runs and a lot of years of deep playoff runs, but they always seem to find diamond-in-the-rough players to help make them an extremely deep team.
