Now 22 games into the 2017-18 campaign, let’s take a look at the play so far this year of Jonathan Toews and his linemates, Brandon Saad and Richard Panik
After the first nine games of the season, I wrote an article discussing how Jonathan Toews’ year had begun and if there were early signs of success in re-acquiring Brandon Saad and fixing up the Blackhawks top line.
Since the article, Toews, and the entire team, has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride. After those first nine games, the Hawks went on a stretch where they went 2-5-0 and were having a terrible time scoring to going 4-1-1 in their last 6 games. The hope certainly is that the ‘Hawks have started to right the ship, but only time will tell.
During that stretch of bad play, Head Coach Joel Quenneville blended up the lines a bit and Toews was not playing with both Brandon Saad and Richard Panik every single night, but for the sake of this Toews Tracker, we will be looking specifically at Saad and Panik as Toews’ linemates.
So let’s take a look at how Jonathan Toews’ play and stats stack up through the first 22 games of the year, just over a quarter of the season, and how both of his linemates have faired on the ice with the captain.
