The Chicago Blackhawks have won five games in a row, the last two coming against division opponents. How does that impact this week’s NHL power rankings?

Chicago Blackhawks fans were down and out a week ago with their team losing five straight games.  But since then, the ‘Hawks have rallied and won five in a row.  The first three games came against bottom-feeder opponents, but their last two wins against the Jets and Wild were good signs. So what does that mean for this week’s NHL power rankings?

Right now, it means the Blackhawks are trending up. The road for more of the same stays tough intThe next week, as the Blackhawks face off against the Stars and Devils, two games they would love to add to the win column.  The ‘Hawks currently sit in the top wild card spot in the Western Conference but are looking for more.

It won’t be easy catching teams like St. Louis and Nashville, but the ‘Hawks’ momentum is a dangerous quality.  Players like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and most importantly Corey Crawford are hitting their stride towards the end of the first half of the season, so hopefully they can continue producing into the second half.

With that in mind, let’s turn to this week’s NHL power rankings, courtesy Blackhawk Up’s Aaron Goldschmidt and Colin Likas.
