Alexis Gravel was drafted by the Blackhawks in the 6th round of the 2018 NHL Draft. Gravel is only 19 years old and has a bright future ahead of him. He currently plays for the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) and has improved with each passing season.
In his 3rd year with the Mooseheads, Gravel had his best season yet. During the 2018-19 regular season, he posted a 2.49 GAA and .913 Sv% in 49 games, while adding a 2.73 GAA and .917 Sv% during 23 playoff games.
Halifax has played 3 games in the 2019 Memorial Cup tournament and Alexis Gravel has looked really solid. He has a 2.33 GAA and .929 Sv% in the tournament and even earned 1st Star honors. Gravel is definitely doing his part in giving the Mooseheads a great chance of bringing home the Memorial Cup.
Alexis Gravel is 19 years old, so a little more seasoning would do him some good. While nothing is set in stone right now, Gravel certainly looks like a strong candidate to push for an NHL roster spot within the next couple of years.
