Collin Delia had a great rookie season for the Blackhawks in 2018-19. He filled in quite nicely when Corey Crawford went down with his 2nd concussion and proved that he is the real deal.
Delia played 16 games during the 2018-19 season while Crawford was out. While the numbers might not indicate it, Delia performed really well behind what was a nonexistent defense at times. He ended up with a 3.61 GAA and .908 Sv%.
Collin Delia would eventually return to Rockford where he picked up right where he left off. After playing 26 games in the AHL, Delia finished with a 2.48 GAA and .922 Sv%.
I am a Collin Delia advocate and I believe the Blackhawks are in good hands, literally. What’s not to love, when we have saves like this to look forward to for the next 3 seasons?
As it stands right now, the Blackhawks will enter the 2019-20 NHL season with Corey Crawford and Collin Delia as their goaltenders. I believe that’s a pretty solid tandem and Crawford would serve as a great mentor. I’m sure Delia could learn a lot from the 2-time Stanley Cup winner and 2-time William M. Jennings trophy winner.
