2018 – Adam Boqvist, Nicolas Beaudin / 2019 – Kirby Dach

I don’t think it would be worthwhile to comment on either the Blackhawks 2018 or 2019 first-round picks. Hopefully, they will make an impact on the team and become major pieces of the “New Core”. If not, don’t expect a parade in Chicago any time within the next several years.

According to Stan Bowman, Adam Boqvist is going pro this year, so let’s hope he can make a positive impact for the Blackhawks.

Bowman has made some good draft picks and some bad ones over the years. When I look at the picks, the one thing that stands out to me is that as the picks got better, Bowman let them go more and more frequently. Only 3 of the Blackhawks’ first-round draft picks under Bowman are still with the team — Adam Boqvist, Nicolas Beaudin, and Kirby Dach — all of whom were drafted within in the last 2 years. It makes you wonder how long these three players have to prove themselves.
