Alexis Gravel – 2018 6th Round Pick, #162 overall

Alexis Gravel was the first goalie cut in this year’s training camp, sending him back to his junior team, the Halifax Mooseheads, in an opportunity to redeem their Memorial Cup finals loss to Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.

In 49 games played last year, Gravel went 33-13-2 with a .913 save percentage. He also had a pretty solid prospects tournament in Traverse City, including this desperation save as he battles to stay with the puck:

Goaltenders take a longer time to develop; let’s not forget Corey Crawford didn’t have his first full season in the NHL until he was 25.

Alexis Gravel is just 19 years old and looks to be a very solid prospect. It’s tough to determine if he could be their future starter, but he’s definitely a player to keep an eye on this year, as he gets closer to turning pro.
