3. This Allows Us To Buy Some Prospects At The Deadline

The Chicago Blackhawks have a lot to do today. Last year Stan Bowman refrained from making any trades at the trade deadline because he wanted to let things play out the rest of the way.

This season there is no reason to let things play out, instead, we can give up a player or two like Erik Gustafsson and add some much-needed assets in their place. Maybe we lose a few more games the rest of the season, but hey that would only give us a better draft pick in the end.

The Blackhawks might be able to bring in a few prospects or draft picks by giving up a player now. Remember, this team gave up some draft picks to bring Andrew Shaw back to Chicago.

Finding a way to add some depth draft picks is going to help this team some years down the line. Remember Alex DeBrincat was added in the second round, and there have been gems like that before.
