1. Four points out of the wildcard

It’s true, the Blackhawks are just four points out of the playoffs. It’s crazy to see. Every time they’ve gotten within striking distance, they start to regress and lose a few games in a row. Now, they’re back in the hunt and can’t afford to regress.

The next few games will be tough, after Detroit. The Blackhawks will play the Blues on Sunday, followed by the Sharks, Senators, and Capitals. They’ll have two games with the Wild after that. Those will all be important.

Winning four of the next six is what the Blackhawks need to do. They need to at least win one of the games against the Wild for starters.  After that, they need to keep their foot on the gas pedal.

We know the Blackhawks won’t win out, they do need to win the important games though. They need to keep this win streak going for as long as possible. The road to the playoffs gets tougher each game.

They’re playing in their own mini-playoffs before the real playoffs start. If they can get out of their mini-playoffs alive, they’ll make the real playoffs.

I’m just excited to see them still alive this late in the season. A lot of fans had them written off during their most recent losing streak. Every win the Blackhawks add to their current winning streak, the playoffs become more of a reality.

That being said, bring on the Red Wings!
