I will admit this, when Teuvo Teravainen played with the Blackhawks in 2014, I didn’t think much of him. I mean, in 115 games with the Blackhawks, he scored just 17 times and had 27 assists for a total of 44 points.
As he’s turned into a superstar with the Hurricanes, I admit I was very wrong about Teravainen and I would kill to have him back. Teravainen was close to having his third straight season where he scored 20 goals or more, before the NHL pause. He has 245 points with the Hurricanes in almost four seasons.
Teravainen was a huge key to the Hurricanes’ success last seasons, posting 21 goals and 55 assists for 76 points. He’s turned his career around since leaving Chicago. To his credit, he was just 21 when he was traded to Carolina.
He isn’t overly expensive and plays well for his age. He’d play well with Patrick Kane or even be on a line with Kirby Dach and/or Alex DeBrincat. There are so many possibilities for him on the Blackhawks.
Sadly, there’s little-to-no chance that we’ll ever see Teravainen back in a Blackhawks uniform. If the Hurricanes want a chance at becoming a real contender, Teravainen will be on their team for the next 10 seasons.
