Going into the 2020-21 NHL season, the Chicago Blackhawks will have many things to fix if they want to become a playoff team.

The Chicago Blackhawks are currently 32-30-8 (72 points), which has Chicago 7th in the Central Division. The lowest a team can be while making the playoffs is 5th in their division, Chicago is six points out of 5th in the Central.

With the season being everything but over unless the NHL does a 24 team playoff race, this will be the third season in a row where the Blackhawks didn’t make the playoffs. They’ve fallen off of a cliff after making the playoffs nine straight seasons.

Any team that has Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews in their prime on it should make a playoff run out of it. Even though they’re in one of, if not the toughest division in hockey, they should at least be a wildcard team each season.

For Chicago to make it back to the success they once had, they’ll need to be aggressive in the offseason. Stan Bowman, it’s time to buckle up and clean up the mess that you’ve left the team with.
