In what has since turned into a cult classic of its own, Swingers was released back in October 1996. One of the most famous scenes is when Mike and Trent (played by Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughan, respectively) are hanging out in their apartment playing the NHL 94 video game. It’s a match-up between the Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks, with the entire scene revolving around Vaughan’s character idolizing Jeremy Roenick’s in-game abilities. They also have another goal in mind, beyond in the traditional sense, as this game incorporates blood with player injuries and they are determined to test this feature on an animated Wayne Gretzky.
