Ed Belfour

If there was ever a goalie that epitomized the fear that a hawk instills in its prey, it was Ed Belfour. Starting his professional career in Chicago, he played in seven seasons with the team throughout the 90s.

In his rookie year alone, he achieved an All-Star team spot, Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year, William M. Jennings Trophy with the fewest goals scored against, and the Vezina Trophy as the league’s best goaltender.

All of these accolades are impressive on their own, but to earn them all (and in his first full season) is something special. Belfour would go on to play in four more All-Star games, win two more Jennings trophies, and be awarded another Vezina throughout his tenure with this team. Although his only Stanley Cup came playing with the Dallas Stars, the type of play that earned him 30 shutouts throughout the 90s with Chicago makes him an obvious choice for goalie of that decade with this organization.
