3 – The Phillip Danault Trade To Montreal

The Chicago Blackhawks went all-in on the Stanley Cup in 2016. They brought in some great talent like Andrew Ladd, and if it was not for game seven in St. Louis things might have turned out differently for this deal.

The Blackhawks decided to deal Phillip Danault to the Montreal Canadians for Tomas Fleishmann and Dale Weise, two players that ended up doing very little in the playoffs for the Blackhawks. This trade was done in part to help the Blackhawks get more depth at the forward position, however, it sacrificed a good piece for the future.

I do not know if Danaultr would still be with the Blackhawks today, but I do know that he was better than Fleishmann and Weise

Stan Bowman has made a career of throwing away his young prospects in the hopes of getting veterans to help them get to the playoffs, this was another one of those deals that backfired. However, there is no trade worse than the next one on this list.
