Michael Krutil (4th Round Pick)

Justin Klawans:

If he pans out, this is exactly the kind of d man that the Hawks need. Good physical presence and hockey IQ. Hopefully, he will make it to the NHL. Grade A-

Dylan Terry:

Krutil has spent the past couple of seasons playing in the junior leagues of the Czech Republic. Because of this, his progression is a little bit behind the typical draft pick. Krutil is another physical defenseman standing at 6’3 and 202 pounds. Michael does have a lot to learn but will to continue to grow nonetheless playing for the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League in the upcoming seasons. (Grade C-)

Jake Wheeler:

I think this pick was a decent value pickup for the Blackhawks. He will need some seasoning but with the right development, he could make the NHL as a depth defenseman. (Grade C+)

Seth Stauffer:

This far into the draft GMs are basically just gambling, but you never know. Sometimes players can surprise you. Former Blackhawk Niklas Hjalmarsson was drafted in the fourth round, and he turned out to be excellent.

There are conflicting opinions about Krutil, but the scouting reports make him sound like an impressive defenseman. If he lives up to the positive comments in those reports Chicago could have a great defenseman on their hands.

Jimmy Lynch:

Another defenseman in the Blackhawks group. If Rockford can really focus on coaching up their young defensemen then they should be looking at a lot of players who can mix into their bottom pairing group. (Grade C-)
