Dylan Strome still has a lot of hockey left in his career.
Dylan Strome is just 23 years old. The Chicago Blackhawks were one of the youngest rosters in the qualifying round last season, and keeping Strome around helps the team keep the youth in the locker room.
Strome has a lot of potential. Drafted third overall in the 2015 NHL draft, Strome was expected to be a franchise-altering prospect. While his stock might have fallen off a little from there, his potential is still untouched.
The Blackhawks would not be making the right call by letting Strome walk or by trading him away. At this time, the Blackhawks would not get that good of a return on Dylan Strome. If they wanted to deal him, they should have done it at the NHL draft or earlier this past season.
I understand neither Strome nor the Blackhawks are in that big of a rush to get a deal done, considering there is still a lot of time before the season starts back up, but having Strome back next year is necessary.
Strome can be a big piece on the Blackhawks roster next season and even further down the line.
