6 – Does Dylan Strome have what it takes?

The Chicago Blackhawks season is in the hands of just one player. If Dylan Strome can go out this season and be the player drafted third overall in the 2015 NHL draft, then Chicago has a shot at success in the future. However, if he plays like what we saw last year, then Chicago is in for a long 56 games.

Strome is entering his fifth season in the NHL. Having not played 200 games yet, Strome still is a rather young NHL player. The past two seasons with the Blackhawks have given him 29 goals and 60 assists through 116 games. Now is the time to raise the bar

Strome averaged just 15:56 minutes of ice time last season. That is not horrible, but it also is not that great. The 23-year-old spent some time out and was up and down the lineup throughout the season.

Having what it takes means being consistent throughout the year. While Chicago is filled with different players that can take faceoffs in be centers, none will be called upon more than Strome next season.

Strome was a decent second-line center during the 2018-19 season with the Blackhawks. However, his faceoff numbers were not the best. Now he needs to take a giant step forward. The opportunity is there.
