8 – What will the defense look like?

With Keith and Murphy spending some time together during training camp thus far, the lines in 2021 are definitely up in the air. How the Blackhawks defense shakes out will be the biggest question mark in 2021.

It humors me every offseason that while Chicago knows their defense is their biggest ailment right now, they continue to bring back the same players every season. Yes, Chicago is stuck with some bad contracts, but Bowman really was not forced to hand them out.

Here is my guess on how the defense will look as of now.

Keith – Murphy

de Haan – Mitchell

Zadorov – Boqvist

The defense could very well look different night in and night out. My guess is with Seabrook and maybe another defenseman or two scratched every night, we could see some moving pieces in the lineup to keep the competition going between the blue line throughout the season.

The Blackhawks defense is the biggest issue on this roster, and hopefully, they can spend some of this season fixing that issue in trades. There are just too many pieces. While Zadorov, Murphy, and de Haan all have their strengths, at least one will not be on the roster by next season.
