9 – Will we see some trades?

Chicago is rebuilding, and a rebuild includes adding prospects and draft picks throughout the season to better the team down the line. While the Blackhawks roster is thin, they do have some players on one-year deals that might spark interest from teams looking to add more depth.

Mattias Janmark, Carl Soderberg, David Kampf, Lucas Wallmark, and Nikita Zadorov are all on one-year deals. Bowman probably won’t trade Zadorov seeing as he gave up Brandon Saad to bring him in, but players like Soderberg, Kampf, and Janmark all could be a nice player for a team on a playoff run.

Plus, with Chicago holding over ten million dollars on injured reserve if Toews does miss the season, then they could also use their cap space as a tool to bring in some prospects for a team looking to get under the cap and make a trade.

There are still some fun things to watch with this team, even if they are rebuilding and losing some big games. My only question is what players will we see dealt this season, and how good a return could the Blackhawks get on a player like Calvin de Haan at the deadline.
