Alex Vlasic

The Chicago Blackhawks have introduced a number of defensemen to the team the past few years. However, none are like Alex Vlasic. The Chicago Blackhawks second-round pick from the 2019 NHL draft will certainly be in the NHL one of these years.

Vlasic has size, he is 6’6″ and might benefit from getting a little stronger during the offseason, but he still has the height to be successful. Height might not be everything, but for a blueline that has gotten pushed around in the past, having a defensive defenseman like Vlasic is a breath of fresh air.

Vlasic is not just a shutdown defenseman, he also put up eight points in 16 games with Boston University this past season. That is a major step up from the year before where he put up four in 34 games. I think Vlasic might be someone who could surprise a lot of people at this coming year’s training camp. This team has a lot of great offensive defensemen, but shutdown guys are sparse on this team, maybe Vlasic can be that guy.
