Linus Ullmark

Linus Ullmark played in 20 games this past season with the Buffalo Sabres. During that time he put up a .917 save percentage and a 2.63 goals-against average. For a Buffalo Sabres goalie that is pretty good.

Ullmark will be turning 28 this summer and will be a free agent. Should he still be around after the expansion draft I think the Blackhawks should sign him. The Hawks would be getting a goalie with a little bit of size in the net that can be stable for them.

Ullmark made 2.6 million this past season, and he might be looking for 3.5 million this coming year. He probably does deserve a raise but I think it comes down to how much the team is going to be able to spend for a net minder. If they can get Ullmark to take a contract for a year or two around three million then sure why not add a goalie, but if any of these guys are asking for four or five million then I think they keep running with Delia/Lankinen/Subban.

"Mike Reilly could be an impactful free agency pickup for the Blackhawks"

The goalie position is vital to the NHL. Look at how the teams in the playoffs are doing. Pittsburgh got bounced because of bad goaltending, while the two North Division teams still remaining had stellar performances from their netminders. Anything can happen in the postseason, so having good goalies to back you up needs to be a priority for a contender.
