October 4th, 2020: Chicago traded Olli Maatta to the Los Angeles Kings for Brad Morrison

This trade is important for a few reasons. One it got rid of some salary for a team that needed cap space, and secondly, it brought in Brad Morrison to the organization. Morrison has been an invaluable part of this team scoring clutch goals and being an instant hit within the middle six lines. Oh, wait I am talking about Vinnie Hinostroza.

The Blackhawks trade Brad Morrison to the Florida Panthers this past season for Hinostroza. It was supposed to be a minor swap that did not benefit the teams that much, and yet Hinostroza is someone that now deserves a contract extension and can help the team for years to come.

This will be the final season that Maatta’s contract is counting against the Blackhawks as well, so after the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, this deal will be off the books.
