Alex DeBrincat (F)

Alex DeBrincat is going to be the future of the Chicago Blackhawks. His offensive production leads the team with so many different highlight-reel goals night in and night out. Personally, I believe he will be the captain someday. This team is lucky to have a leader like him, and he is one of the biggest NHL draft steals of all time considering he was taken in the second round.

DeBrincat was a no-brainer to protect at this expansion draft. He is young and under contract for a few more seasons. No reason to lose him to an expansion draft.

Brandon Hagel (F)

Brandon Hagel is another future piece of the team. He does not currently have a contract, but that does not matter to the Blackhawks. Hagel will be a member of the Blackhawks for years to come. His determination and grit are something this team has not had since Andrew Shaw during the championship years, the only difference is Hagel also has a lot of talent and can score some great goals along the way.

Out of all the new rookies this past season, Hagel definitely left the biggest impact.
