6. Murphy’s Reaction

Connor Murphy has a contract extension. With that order of business taken care of now, all the Hawks need is for Murphy to go out and be the best player he can be. How he reacts this season after taking on a leadership role in 2020-21 will be interesting.

Murphy stepped up with the absence of so many different leaders in the organization, but now with the return of the captain and the introduction of a few other top-end defensemen how the team performs this season will be interesting.

I do not think anyone expects Murphy to put up a crazy amount of goals or do anything that impressive to shine around the league, but he can be one of the team’s best guys every night if he continues to play physically and shut down opponents in the Hawks own end. He has been one of the best defensemen to watch on this team for many years, now we get to see what he can do with a full season and help around him.
