4. Nicolas Beaudin:

Nicolas Beaudin, Ian Mitchell, Wyatt Kalynuk, and Alec Regula – there are only so many roster spots on this team for defensemen. Not everyone of these guys is going to be in the opening night lineup or even on the roster when the season begins.

Who starts the year in the NHL and who starts in the AHL with the IceHogs will be decided pretty early during the preseason. One would imagine even a few hiccups will force Colliton and Bowman to send players down to the IceHogs and move forward with whoever is left.

The defense is crowded with talent, and that is okay as whoever does get sent down to the AHL will get a golden opportunity to play a lot on the ice.

5. Either Delia or Subban:

If Subban or Delia plays well during the preseason they might convince some team they can be a reliable backup for their franchise. I do not think there is even a question of whether or not Subban and or Delia will ever play another game in Chicago.

Assuming Lankinen and Fleury stay healthy those two are probably done playing with the Blackhawks. So getting the reps in during the preseason and being solid could help secure them a new team. Also that will matter when it comes to potential injuries and who gets called up if a goalie gets hurt.
