Lukas Reichel had 16 minutes of ice time in the first preseason game a few nights ago. During that time he had a single shot on goal and spent almost four minutes on the ice during the power play.

Reichel was the most impressive player during the prospect showcase in Minnesota, and he is definitely someone that could be in the lineup, but due to how good Gaudette was during the last preseason game, and the high hopes the team has for guys like Borgstrom and Kurashev, maybe Reichel would be better off spending the start of the year in Rockford until the lineup is more concrete.

Reichel is definitely in a tough position. He needs to do well or risk being sent down to the AHL, as there are a number of players vying for his spot in the lineup. If he can develop some chemistry with a guy like Jonathan Toews or more likely Kirby Dach then maybe he stays up and gets to play in the NHL from the start of the year.

Personally, I hope tonight Hawks fans get to see Reichel shoot the puck more often and maybe even net a goal. The next player up definitely is not worrying about his spot on the roster.
