Good Morning Chicago Blackhawks Fans!

It’s been a decade now since the Chicago Blackhawks were getting #1 draft picks to use to try and rebuild a franchise that had been in ruins for over 10 years.  While watching the NHL draft lottery last night, it seems so far away but really it isn’t when the Chicago Blackhawks routinely were at the top of the draft looking for players to build around.

It’s almost comical that the Edmonton Oilers could have once again had the top pick in the NHL draft this year if they had won the draft lottery last night.  They still ended up with the 4th pick of the draft, but it goes to show you how important Dale Tallon was to the current state of the Chicago Blackhawks.  Tallon with high picks made the right choices when he selected Jonathan Toews with the 3rd selection overall and Patrick Kane the following year with the #1 pick.

Had the Chicago Blackhawks made wrong choices back then, the franchise could have just been making pick after pick at the top of the draft every year like the Oilers have for seemingly 6-7 years now. Instead the Chicago Blackhawks have won 3 Stanley Cups during the Toews/Kane era and we can go back and thank Dale for that!
