Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- An Erie Future
Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! While the Chicago Blackhawks are enjoying another day off, the question is the next great Chicago Blackhawk playing junior hockey right now.
Let’s be honest, one of most fan’s favorite things to do is try to figure out who the next great player in their team’s franchise history is going to be.
As Chicago Blackhawks fans, we have already thought the next great Blackhawks players have been in the system, and for a while we thought one of them was part of the core. Brandon Saad was the next great Chicago Blackhawk and he even was a vital part of the 2015 Stanley Cup run, but when his agent wanted big bucks Stan Bowman sent him packing.
The player most fans and especially bloggers were in love with for years was Teuvo Teravainen who also was part of the 2015 Cup run. Teuvo was a sacrificial lamb in the Bryan Bickell trade to Carolina, and so in the past few seasons the future has left the franchise.
Now there is another bright star in the system and his name is Alex DeBrincat who now is the leading scorer in the Erie Otters of the OHL team history. The funny thing is now experts are saying he should be moved so the Hawks can pick up a piece for another Stanley Cup run.
I’m hoping if he’s really good they hold on to him, because the Hawks need young talent to go along with the veterans, but I also want another Cup or two during this era so hopefully Bowman makes the right choice.
