The Chicago Blackhawks started the New Year off on the right foot. The Blackhawks defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-0 in a boring game. Before the game Patrick Kane was presented a gold puck by General Manager Stan Bowman as the Blackhawks honored the 26 game point streak. Bowman then went on and traded Jeremy Morin during the game. The pregame ceremony and the Morin trade might have been the most exciting “plays” during tonight’s game. Play by Play announcer Pat Foley said tonight’s crowd might have been the quietest he has heard at the United Center for a whole game all season. Eddie Olczyk said “there was nothing going on this game. A lot of one and done’s on offense and not many great chances.”

You know that was a boring 1st period when talking about the Cleveland Browns head coaching issues was more exciting. #Blackhawks

That 'twas ... a very uneventful period of professional ice hockey. #Blackhawks and #Sens tied 0-0 after one.
— Brian Hedger (@BrianHedger) January 4, 2016
MERCIFUL END OF PERIOD 1: #Blackhawks and Sens both thought this was a 7 p.m. start. Hawks up 7-6 in shots.
— Mark Lazerus (@MarkLazerus) January 4, 2016
Andrew Desjardins with an assist. His soon-to-be-franchise-record point streak is at three games. #Blackhawks

#Blackhawks acquire forward Richard Panik from Toronto in exchange for Jeremy Morin.
— Eric Lear (@BHTVeric) January 4, 2016
@MarkLazerus so how long does it take to go from #FreeMorin to #FreePanik
— Cameron (@Chorrbs) January 4, 2016
Is their goalie calling for a beard? That's not legal. Play with what you got.
— Coach Q's mustache (@CoachQsMustache) January 4, 2016
If Panik means Mashinter can go back to Rockford, then this is a good trade!
— Greg Boysen (@GregBoysen) January 4, 2016
6:42 left in the third...#bah #Blackhawks
— Covid Crawford? (@Chicago_IceHogs) January 4, 2016
Corey Crawford already has set a career high with five shutouts this season, so this tweet is not a jinx, so shut up. #Blackhawks
— Mark Lazerus (@MarkLazerus) January 4, 2016
Panik is player Q will like, unlike Morin. He scored 11 goals for TOR last year but couldn't crack lineup this year. #Blackhawks = new opp

#Blackhawks win 3-0. Crawford's sixth shutout of the season, 18th of his career. Desjardins four goals, assist in his last three games.

Per @EliasSports: Corey Crawford is 1st @NHLBlackhawks goalie to post 6 or more shutouts in a single season since 2009-10 (Antti Niemi: 7).
— NHL Public Relations (@PR_NHL) January 4, 2016
Coach Joel Quenneville said Richard Panik will join #Blackhawks, not head to Rockford.
