Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! Stan Bowman made his second big move of the offseason yesterday when he fired Ted Dent, and relieved him of his duties as the Rockford Ice Hogs head coach.

First off let’s be real honest here.  Stan Bowman has made a couple of moves, but they really aren’t any significant moves to the roster which lost in 4 straight games to the Nashville Predators.

Sure, getting a new assistant coach may help the powerplay or penalty kill, but in the end it’s the same players that were on the ice last season right now.

The other big news of course is Ted Dent being fired after signing a 3 year extension last summer. According to Chris Hine and Chris Kuc the franchise was upset with Dent after a few tweets and texts around the trade deadline when his team was decimated with call ups and trades.

14 of the current Chicago Blackhawks played for Rockford and Ted Dent so he obviously did a pretty good job through the years.  The team should be restocked next year so it will be interesting who takes over for Dent in Rockford next year.

Either way it looks like Stan was serious about making changes, the question is what is he going to do with the roster and not just coaches.
