The Chicago Blackhawks and Colorado Avalanche meet up once again tonight at the United Center. It’s the third time in less than a month that the two Central Division foes will be hooking up. The first time was a blow out with the Avs easily beating the Blackhawks 3-0 and long time nemesis Semyon Varlamov picking up another shut out. In the first game the Blackhawks looked slow and the Av’s looked fast and hungry, and it was the beginning of their move up the standings.
The Chicago Blackhawks went to Colorado on New Year’s Eve and left the Pepsi Center with two points and an overtime victory. Jonathan Toews was the hero in overtime, but it was a total team effort that got the Hawks the victory. Patrick Kane scored, but it was getting production from Andrew Desjardins that was the best part of the night, and well they were able for times able to solve Varlamov.
The Blackhawks will be working on increasing their win streak to 7 games which is their best streak of the season. One thing is for certain the Hawks have gone on a lot of long winning streaks with Joel Quenneville behind the bench.

The Colorado Avalanche are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and are creeping up the standings and their play keeps getting better and better are starting to really look like the team that won the Central Division in 2014, and not the team that struggled through and missing the 2015 Stanley Cup playoffs. The biggest player on both rosters in this rivalry is Varlamov, and it will be interesting to see if the Blackhawks can keep scoring like their last meeting or will he shut the door like history shows us he will. Should be fun tonight and here are the listings for tonight’s game.
