The Chicago Blackhawks had all the momentum heading into Game #3 of their Western Conference Semi-Final Matchup against the St. Louis Blues, and when they scored the opening goal in the early moments of the first period of Game #3 it looked liked the Hawks were ready to roll. The problem is the ending didn’t look as good as the beginning and in the end the Chicago Blackhawks lost another Game #3 under Joel Quenneville. The Hawks are now 6-14 all-time in Games #3 under Coach Q which really looks like an odd stat when you consider the Chicago Blackhawks are 43-14 in Game #4-7.
The Chicago Blackhawks are in what one must believe is a must win game with two out of the last three games in St. Louis and though digging out of a 3-1 hole isn’t impossible it’s just that the Hawks have done it 3 times in their recent past, but they have only won Game #7 once.
The stars of the series have to be the goalies so far with both Brian Elliott and Corey Crawford playing fantastic in the series. The one thing that has become apparent is that if Elliott sees the puck he’s going to stop it so it is up to the Hawks to keep getting bodies in front of the St. Louis Blue goalie and get some dirty hard working goals in the crease. The Chicago Blackhawks looked like Globetrotters in the 2nd period, but with all that show it didn’t give the Hawks a big enough lead to carry them through the third period.

Corey Crawford‘s biggest issue hasn’t been seeing the puck or traffic in front, but the fact that friendly fire has been deflecting pucks and those are the ones getting passed him. The first two goals on Sunday were deflected shots and now it’s up to the defense to either sell out on the shot block like Brent Seabrook and Niklas Hjalmarsson do or get out of the way. It’s been a great series by both goalies so far and I only expect it to continue tonight.

If you are looking for a player to really breakout tonight it’s Artemi Panarin. Sure he has 1 goal and 1 assist so far, but it looks like he has a couple of playoff games under his belt and now he’s ready to have a huge game and possibly turn the tide in this series.
