The Chicago Blackhawks came off of a frustrating loss to Edmonton last night, and flew out to Buffalo and dominated the Sabres.

The Chicago Blackhawks played a pretty good game on Saturday night with no results, but that didn’t keep them down as they traveled to Patrick Kane‘s hometown and skated away with their 6th straight road win.  Here are some thoughts about the Chicago Blackhawks win in Buffalo.

5. Scott Darling Was Sharp All Night Long

The biggest news (sarcastic) before the game was the NBCSN announcers saying Darling was from Newport News and not Lemont.  Darling had to be sharp early on before the Hawks found their legs, and even though he gave up a very late first period goal Darling was sharp all night long and earned his 14th victory of the season.

4. Dennis Rasmussen needs to Keep His Head Up

Rasmussen has been getting clobbered a lot lately, and he got leveled once again on Sunday night. It didn’t factor in the game, but he’s one of the Hawks best PK players so they can’t afford for him to get injured.  I joked about him being the new Marcus Kruger, but let’s stay healthy!

3. Milestones continue

Brent Seabrook played in his 900th game and Jonathan Toews picked up his 600th point on Saturday night. On Sunday night, Marcus Kruger picked up his 100th point of his career, and Kane scored his 20th goal of the season which extended his streak of 20 goals a season for his 10th straight year to start his career.

2. Patrick Kane homecoming

Kane looked pretty good all night long, even though Artemi Panarin struggled with his passing most of the night, but he clicked twice on Kane’s goal and Artem Anisimov‘s goal. Kane is now 11-2 all-time when playing in Buffalo, and now he has another multi-point game which he’s been picking up with regularity lately.

1. Nick Schmaltz play is helping the Captain

First off Richard Panik could have had a huge Sunday, He had an assist but easily could have had 2 goals and 2 assists in the 2nd period.  That being said Nick Schmaltz vision keeps impressing me, and his play set up the Jonathan Toews goal.  Toews play has been improving and you can point to Schmaltz’s game improving as why the Captain has been playing at a high level.
