  • The Chicago Blackhawks will finish off their two-game homestand at the United Center this morning against the red-hot Boston Bruins

The Chicago Blackhawks continued their dominating play when they returned home to face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. The Blackhawks have now played back-to-back games without blowing a lead.

The Blackhawks opened the scoring early after Brandon Dubinsky cross-checked Niklas Hjalmarsson just 28 seconds into the game. Artemi Panarin scored the first goal just four seconds into a powerplay. He also scored the empty-netter to seal the Blackhawks’ 50th win of the season.

This is only the second time the team has reached the 50-win mark in franchise history. The last time they did so was the 2009-10 season, which you may remember ended with a Stanley Cup victory.

Expect today’s game against the Boston Bruins to be gritty as well as fast. David Backes will be back in Chicago for the first time since he signed with Boston in the offseason. Brad Marchand will be a pest like he always is, but he has developed into a multi-talented player.

Marchand leads the team in goals (39), assists (45) and points (84). There’s no doubt the Blackhawks are going to want to stifle Marchand’s speed and skill throughout the game to keep him from hitting the 40-goal mark.

David Pastrnak, just 20 years old, has stepped up to the plate, hitting career highs in goals (32), assists (36) and points (68). He’s second on the team in two out of three categories. Pastrnak has four points in his last three games, all of them being assists.

This is the first prediction I have ever done, and I am somewhat scared that I will jinx everything. Let’s knock on wood and hope for the best!

Final score prediction: The Chicago Blackhawks will continue their win streak, extending it to three games. However, it will not be an easy task. There will be a lot of back-and-forth throughout the game when it comes to the goal scoring. The Blackhawks will win 4-3 in overtime.

Three stars prediction

#3 Star – Jonathan Toews – 2 assists

#2 Star – Brad Marchand – 1 goal, 2 assists

#1 Star – Artemi Panarin – 2 goals, 1 assist
