As you’re waiting for the Chicago Blackhawks to take on the Ducks tonight in what is easily going to be one of the most meaningless hockey games of the year, you’re probably already looking towards the playoffs and wondering who the Hawks will be playing as well as when they will actually kick off the playoffs.
Over the last 9 years, the Blackhawks have made the playoffs nine times and have won three Stanley Cups so Blackhawks fans aren’t exactly unfamiliar with the playoffs and everything that comes with them. However, every fan and fan base loves a good hype video to get them ready for the playoffs and this video is awesome.
I’ll be the first person to admit that I’ve watched this video countless times and I get more and more excited every single time I watch it. It’s a great reminder of everything the Hawks have accomplished this year and you also get a great taste of their past accomplishments and the history they have as an organization.
I don’t know if I’m the only one, but ever since the Game 7 loss to the St. Louis Blues in the playoffs last year, I’ve been itching for the playoffs to start again. Once the Blackhawks had their playoff berth wrapped up, I couldn’t help but suffer through every remaining regular season game as I waited for the playoffs to come around and with just two games remaining, they’re finally so close to being here.

As far as I can tell, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin on Wednesday, April 12th but since the Chicago Bulls play at the United Center on that day and the Hawks are set to open at home, it looks like we’ll see the Blackhawks play their first home game of the playoffs on Thursday, April 13th. After that, it’s nothing more than a guessing game given how the NHL schedules the playoff games and the fact that the Blackhawks currently have no idea who their first round opponent is going to be.

If I was a betting man, I would tell Hawks’ fans to plan on Game 1 and 2 taking place on Thursday and Saturday at the United Center, but once again, the NHL seems to go crazy with these schedules so who knows when or what time they’re actually going to play. As mentioned earlier, the Blackhawks are set to take the ice against the Ducks tonight as they rest some of the key starters including Toews, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson.
