The Chicago Blackhawks host the Nashville Predators in Game #1 of the 2017 Stanley Cup playoffs tonight.
The Chicago Blackhawks had a pretty good 2nd half of the season in a year that they weren’t supposed to be very dominant, and in the end they ended up being the top seed in the Western Conference.
The Nashville Predators were supposed to the team to beat this year, but things didn’t transpire like many had thought. In the end they were able to get into the playoffs in the final wild card spot.
So when you look at it, both teams didn’t have the regular season that anyone imagined, but in the end both teams are where they expected to be which is in the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
This of course is the most exciting time of the year for hockey fans because it’s a 3 month marathon to the Stanley Cup Final. Both these teams think if they can get out of the opening round of the playoffs they can make that long run this season.

For the Chicago Blackhawks they have a few question marks and that is the youth in the lineup. Coach Joel Quenneville has had all season to gain trust in the kids like Ryan Hartman and Nick Schmaltz, but will they be able to kick it up a notch with the extra intensity of the playoffs.
The good thing for Coach Q and the kids is that they are surrounded by a core of stars that have made the long journey to the Stanley Cup promise land!
