Good morning, Chicago Blackhawks fans, and welcome to your opportunity to laugh in the face of the Nashville Predators advancing in the postseason

I don’t know about you guys, but I didn’t at all mind seeing the Nashville Predators, who knocked the Chicago Blackhawks out of this year’s playoffs, advance to their first-ever conference final Sunday.

They dispatched the St. Louis Blues in six games behind a third-period Ryan Johansen goal at Bridgestone Arena. This led to much excitement among a fan base that has never seen its hockey team get this far into the postseason.

Imagine how excited Predators fans would be if their team made it to the Stanley Cup Final …

… what’s that? You can find out how that looks right now?

Yeah, Channel 4 News in Nashville had a bit of a struggle recapping what the Preds’ latest win meant. No, it did not mean Nashville was advancing to the championship round. And considering said round is the “Stanley Cup Final” singular, even that part was wrong.

But we’ve seen this before from markets that aren’t super invested in hockey.

“JAMES, SAVE ME FROM MYSELF!”

Yeah, remember when the Los Angeles Kings were making a run to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final? Well, one local media outlet had quite the time covering one of their conference final games against Phoenix.

Anze Kopitar turned into Anze Kopidor, the puck turned into a ball and Drew Doughty became Brad Doty. The beleaguered newscast reader was about done with the sport of hockey by the time that segment was over.

But it’s just one of those things that can happy in non-traditional hockey markets. Ultimately, we fans of teams that are no longer playing get a laugh at the expense of a media outlet or something similar. Those teams and their fans, meanwhile have bigger fish to fry.

Anyway, let’s move on to some Chicago Blackhawks morning links.
