Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! A little later start then normal since yesterday was my oldest son’s wedding. Today is the Memorial Cup Final and one Chicago Blackhawks prospect will be skating away with the Cup.
Yes, I don’t normally watch or pay any interest to the Memorial Cup, but with Alex DeBrincat in the middle of the tournament, it has at least part of my interest this year.
It’s funny how the opinions for DeBrincat have varied in the past few days and weeks when looking ahead to next season.
First off, in my opinion DeBrincat is the most exciting prospect the Blackhawks have had since Teuvo Teravainen. DeBrincat has scored 50 goals in all three of his junior seasons with the Erie Otters, and this year helped lead the team to the OHL Championship and a date in the Memorial Cup Final.
I’ve read some people think we need to pump the brakes on DeBrincat with probably spending the entire next season in Rockford, while other people have him on the top line next season with Jonathan Toews.

The one thing that is apparent is that he can score the puck and knows where to go on the ice to make things happen.
If the Erie Otters and DeBrincat do lose in the Memorial Cup Final, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Graham Knott will be skating with the Cup tonight.
