Andrew Desjardins was acquired by the Blackhawks from San Jose Sharks during the 2014-15 season. He provided some fourth line depth and gave the Blackhawks some energy on the fourth line. In 2015, he played a more prominent role on offense for a Blackhawks team that was still searching for a replacement to trading Brandon Saad.
His third year with the Blackhawks was a disappointment. He did not score 1 goal the entire season. His play was frustrating to fans and should have been a disappointment to management.
At one point, people questioned whether Desjardins should be even on the roster. He did not appear in playoff game this past season.
Here are his numbers from last year:
2016-17 regular season statistics : 46 games, 0 goals, 1 assists, -6 plus/minus

Positives
Desjardins provided some veteran depth for the young forwards in the bottom six. He is professional. Other than that, there was no much in the way of positives.
Negatives
Desjardins provided little to no help on offense. He is the only player on the roster to not score a single goal. He had the same amount of goals as Scott Darling, Corey Crawford, and Spencer Abbott. That is very bad!
Grade: F
Desjardins was a complete bust last year. Yes he is a fourth line player and should not be counted on for much, but come on! He scored the same amount of goals as the goalies!! People questioned at times why he should be in the lineup.
Desjardins is currently an Unrestricted Free Agent. I would recommend that the Blackhawks walk away from Desjardins this off-season. They have a lot of young cost effective forwards that can produce more on offense that Desjardins at this point.
Thank you Desi for your time with the Blackhawks and I wish you the best in your next stop.
